The Experience
Start your day before dawn with a guided hike into Scottsdale’s Sonoran Desert, where the first light of sunrise spreads across the Valley of the Sun. Your guide will meet you near the trailhead, with the exact location confirmed before your tour, and provide a headlamp for the early start. From there, you’ll follow natural-surface trails and climb a series of switchbacks toward a mountain saddle overlooking Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Camelback Mountain. Along the way, your local guide will share insights into the desert’s geology, plants, and wildlife, with the route and pace adjusted to your group’s fitness and preferred level of challenge.
The hike lasts approximately two hours, with a stop at a scenic viewpoint to enjoy the sunrise, trail snacks, and beverages as the desert wakes up around you. Rated easy to moderate, this experience is suitable for a range of hiking abilities, and your guide can adjust the distance and terrain to suit your group. Your tour includes a professional guide with Wilderness First Responder or EMT certification, headlamps, lightweight backpacks, purified water, trail snacks, any required park or preserve fees, and refreshments afterward. Wear closed-toe running, training, or hiking shoes, and bring warm layers for the cool morning temperatures, along with a hat, sunglasses, and a camera.

Where does the sunrise hike meet? ▼
The tour meets at Gateway Trailhead or Brown's Ranch in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, with the exact trailhead confirmed for your date. Your guide contacts you before the tour with meeting details, and rideshare drop-off and pickup work at both locations.
How hard is the hike? ▼
The hike is easy to moderate and fully customizable, with about two hours on natural-surface trails and a sunrise viewpoint break. Routes are matched to your group's mileage, terrain, and grade preferences, so first-timers and regular hikers both fit. The tour is for ages 8 and up.
What time is departure, and what about weather? ▼
Departures follow the sunrise: 6:30 AM from October through April, and 5:30 AM from May through September. Tours run year-round and in most weather; 360 Adventures cancels only for dangerous conditions. Mornings are cool even in summer, so bring a layer and check the forecast before you leave.
What should I wear and bring? ▼
Closed-toe running, cross-training, or hiking shoes are required; no sandals. Wear long sleeves or layers for the chilly pre-dawn start, and bring sunglasses, a hat, and a camera. Headlamps, lightweight backpacks, purified water, and trail snacks are provided.
What is this tour's cancellation and rescheduling policy? ▼
Strict 72-hour window. Send cancellations or changes in writing through our contact form; replies to your confirmation email cannot be processed. More than 72 hours out, you receive a full refund minus card processing fees; inside 72 hours or a no-show, the booking is charged in full. If 360 Adventures cancels for severe conditions, you receive a 100% refund including fees.
